LOCATION.-- Lat 41°43'05", long 88°04'14", in NE1/4SE1/4 sec.3, T.37 N., R.10 E., Will County, Hydrologic Unit 07120004, on downstream side of bridge on Royce Road, 0.5 mi north of Bolingbrook, 4.8 mi northwest of Lemont, and at mile 6.0.

DRAINAGE AREA.-- 75.8 mi2.

STAGE: Water years 1994-2001.

 

PARTIAL RECORD: Annual maximum gage height, water years 1962-70 (published as "at Barbers Corners").

PRECIPITATION: May 1989 to September 1995.

GAGE.-- Water-stage recorder, phone telemeter, and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 625.28 ft above sea level. Prior to Oct. 1, 1988, at datum 17.07 ft higher.

REMARKS.-- Diurnal fluctuation at low flow caused by sewage treatment plants upstream from station. For precipitation records, snowfall-affected data can result during cold weather when snow fills the rain-gage funnel and then melts as temperatures rise. Snowfall-affected data are subject to appreciable errors.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--
SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 3,980 ft3/s, July 18, 1996, gage height, 23.75 ft; minimum discharge, 2.4 ft3/s, Aug. 5, 1993.
PRECIPITATION: Maximum recorded, 3.80 in., May 9, 1990 but may have been greater during periods of missing record.

REMARKS FOR CURRENT YEAR.-- Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
